Courtois published a fiery statement on his official Twitter account (X) in which he announced that he would not play with the Belgian national team as long as Tedesco continued in his job.
Courtois said in the most prominent parts of the statement: “I have decided not to return to the Belgian national team under the leadership of the current coach.”
He continued: “I made the decision in agreement with the Belgian Football Association, and they accept my position and the reasons that led me to this painful decision.”
The Belgian goalkeeper added: “I feel pain at the idea of disappointing some fans, but I am convinced that this is the right path for Belgium. This decision will allow the team to focus on its goals.”

It is noteworthy that Tedesco is linked to Belgium with a contract that extends until 2026, which means that Courtois’ participation in the next edition of the World Cup will be in doubt.
