A report published by British Mirror newspaper A statement by Norway coach Stolle Solbakken, in which he confirmed the severity of the injury suffered by the veteran star.

“The injury looked bad in the dressing room as well, there was no ability to continue, it is not certain that Arteta will call me tonight to praise me,” Solbakken said.

“Odegaard has a slight ankle sprain, we will check it out,” said Ulla Sand, a member of the Norwegian national team’s medical staff.

He continued: “We may use ultrasound to detect the injury, and if we do not reach a definitive result, we will subject the player to an MRI session.”

Odegaard’s injury comes days before the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham at Spurs’ home ground next Sunday.

Arsenal fans hope that the injury is not too serious so that the team captain does not miss the upcoming matches.
