“I can’t wait to tell you that we’ve started casting, and we’re going to make it open,” the actress said in a video posted to Instagram on September 25. “Yes, that’s right. This is an open casting for young actress Elle Woods when she was in high school.”

Earlier this year, the 48-year-old actress confirmed that she would be producing the Prime Video series with her production company Hello Sunshine. A press release for the series described the iconic character as “a natural-born leader who will always stop to straighten another woman’s crown.”
