With the popularity of TLC’s Seeking Sister Wife and Sister Wives, it’s no surprise that Hulu would want to jump on the bandwagon. The streaming service has released its own version of the hit show, titled The Secret Lives of Mormon WivesThe feeling I get is like watching The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City meets Gangster Wives. The women on the show are young, attractive, and highly technical. They’re not your average Mormon in pastel miniskirts and braiding each other’s hair.
The Secret Life of Mormon Wives premiere date
On September 6, 2024, six episodes will premiere on Hulu as the series takes its big moment in the spotlight. The Mormon moms group took TikTok by storm in 2022 with their unconventional marriages and lifestyles. In the trailer, a woman can be heard saying, “Nobody was innocent. Everybody hooked up with everybody.” But since the scandal broke, several of the women have denied being part of the sexual escapades. There’s been no word on a potential season 2. But if it’s as exciting as the first season, Hulu might just need to sign those contracts, right away!
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Cast
The cast is made up of young, attractive Mormons who have apparently all decided to practice soft swinging. The term refers to couples in open relationships who swap partners without having penetrative sex. But it does include kissing and oral sex. Taylor Frankie Paul appears to be the ringleader of this three-ring circus as she caused a firestorm on TikTok under the Mormon platform #MomTok in June 2022 during a live update. At the time, she shared that she and her husband were getting a divorce. The brunette noted that she and Tate Paul had a swinging arrangement, but she went too far by “going all the way” with another man in their group.
On TikTok, Taylor shared, “The whole group was intimate with each other. It wasn’t like I was hanging out with my friend’s husband. It was like we were at a party, and it got aggressive, and we went and messed with ourselves instead of the whole group.” The group and crew consisted of Demi Engemann, Jennifer Affleck, Jessie Ngatikura, Laila Whistle, Maisie Neely, Michaela Matthews, and Whitney Levat.

According to a press release, the Hulu series will explore “the scandalous world of a group of Mormon mom influencers who unravel when they are caught up in a sex scandal.” “Now, their sisterhood has been shaken to its core. Faith, friendship, and reputation are all on the line. Will #MomTok be able to survive and continue to give the rulebook a run for its money, or will this group fall from grace?”
In the trailer, Michaela says, “I love the Mormon church, but there are a lot of rules we have to follow.” Another mom adds, “We were raised to be housewives to men, to cater to their every whim.” Another cast member, Maisie, adds that the main goal of their influential group is to “break the stigma associated with gender roles in Mormon culture.”
What We Know About the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
After Taylor’s world came crashing down, she shared on her social media more than once that she was being ignored by some Mormon moms who were involved in the soft swing group. Taylor was arrested in 2022 via the New York Post 3 on charges of aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse with injury, and criminal vandalism. She was also accused of throwing a wooden swing set at her current fiancé, Dakota Mortensen.
While the entire cast may seem like a bunch of thieves, there is definitely a division within the group. The young women hope to change the way America views Mormons in the modern era. But have they helped or hurt the religious group? We’ll have to watch the series to find out how events unfold.
