“Traitors” Wins Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series

On Sunday, September 15, ABC hosted the 76th Annual Emmy Awards. My husband and I sat through the three boring hours (except for commercials—we taped the show and started late). The show was full of highs and lows. But one of my favorites was seeing Peacock sing “Miss.” Traitors Winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Television Program.

This is the first-ever Emmy win for the streaming platform. Additionally, Peacock won two other Emmys over the weekend at the Creative Arts Celebrations, which were not broadcast on television.

Alan Cumming wins Emmy for his role in The Traitors

The Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Competition Program is given to the second season of the hit competition series. Not only does this award mark the show’s first win in the category, it’s also Peacock’s first Primetime Emmy win ever.

At the Creative Arts Emmy Awards over the weekend, Alan Cumming won the award for Outstanding Host of a Reality Television Program. This is no surprise. Mr. Cumming is always charming, quick-witted, funny and always impeccably dressed. I could hear him reading the phone book.

While the first two seasons of the hit show are available to watch on Peacock, season three is set to premiere in early 2025. Peacock recently announced that the popular competitive series has already been picked up for seasons four and five. Good news for Traitors fans!

The competition follows a group of celebrities competing against each other in a picturesque castle in the Scottish Highlands. At the beginning of the season, the host secretly selects two “traitors” who strategically select one of the faithful each night to “kill.” The group wins cash prizes in daily competitions, which accumulate into a winner’s pot. The remaining faithful must try to eliminate the traitors in an elimination ceremony each day. At the end of the season, whoever is left wins all the money – unless there is a traitor left. In that case, the traitor takes the money, and the remaining faithful go home empty-handed.

Season 3 of The Traitors is set to premiere on Peacock between January and March 2025, with 21 new contestants.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Traitors are available to stream on Peacock.
