The Dark Side of Reality TV

Just when we thought the reality show was over, Vice TV has a new entry into the conversation. They just dropped a trailer for their upcoming show, The Dark Side of Reality TVThey have nothing but the original source of the Orthodox Church, Vicki Gunvalson Speaking against Bravo.

To be clear, this isn’t just a Bravo article. And for the first time, this isn’t just the crazy ramblings of a former employee. It’s an expansion of the Dark Sided series that has already explored several entertainment industries. So far, they’ve also covered pro wrestling and comedy. The reality TV version aims to cover the full spectrum of reality TV, from Survivor to Hell’s Kitchen.

The Dark Side of Reality Shows Trailer

For the upcoming series, producers have recruited major reality TV stars, including Dr. Terry Dubrow and Omarosa Manigault. They will be joined by a slew of reality TV producers, cast members and crew as they shine a light on the drama that wasn’t caught on camera.

The trailer shows a glimpse of Vicki’s confessions about her time on Real Housewives of Orange County. In the trailer, you hear her describe some of the concerns she had about Bravo. She says, “I will never forgive Bravo for that.”

The quote is out of context, so it’s not clear what she’s referring to. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that she’s still frustrated about being fired from a show she co-created. Either way, the fact that she said she “won’t forgive” Bravo is pretty amazing. As if her Wifetime Achievement Award didn’t mean anything!

As fans of the reality TV genre, this is definitely going to be a reality TV show. If it ends up disappointing, it could be the final nail in the coffin for reality TV.

Dark Side of Reality TV will premiere on Vice, September 3, 2024.
