The creator of the Scary Mommy blog, Jill Smukler, has been diagnosed with brain cancer

The author, who founded the popular parenting blog Scary Mommy, shared that she was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

“I’m doing pretty much what you would expect. Not great. I keep alternating between feeling deeply sad and very angry,” Jill told Today.com in an interview published on May 21.

Jill first shared her medical news on Instagram’s Threads earlier this month, writing on May 3, “Glioblastoma wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card, unfortunately, here we are. Life changes fast, friends.”

The 47-year-old – who said she was diagnosed with cancer after having a seizure on April 11 – admitted she posted the note in a “complete state of drugs” following surgery. It was a moment she also remembered not being able to recognize her three children lily20, son18 y Ivan16, whom she shares with her ex-husband Jeff Smukler.
