Press release details Garrison’s autopsy

On May 15, PEOPLE reported details of Garrison’s autopsy. The Coconino County Medical Examiner’s report confirmed that Garrison died from a gunshot wound to the head. As such, the manner of death was ruled a suicide. Furthermore, the contributing factor to the death was Garrison’s consumption of alcohol.

When Garrison died, he was suffering from ethanol poisoning – alcohol poisoning. Garrison’s blood alcohol level was 0.307% based on iliac blood analysis, and 0.370% based on vitreous analysis. For reference, the legal limit in the US is 0.08%, and anything over 0.40% will be fatal.

Garrison also had caffeine in his system when he died, although this does not appear to be a contributing factor in his death. The autopsy results probably didn’t surprise most people, including the Garrison family. We hope the report brings a measure of peace to his loved ones.
