Shannon Beador Reveals How Her Kids Reacted to Her Drunk Driving
It’s been another tough year for me. Shannon BedoreShe was in a car accident and arrested for drunk driving with her beloved dog, Archie Beador, who witnessed the accident. Shannon has three daughters with her ex-husband, Sophie, Stella, and Adeline. When we first met them on RHOC, they were just little kids but they had a keen understanding of the deep issues between their parents. Now that they’re in their 20s, you can imagine how difficult it was when Shannon’s drunk driving case made headlines.
Shannon wanted forgiveness.
Shannon opened up to People magazine about the “humiliating” feelings she felt when she discussed drunk driving with her daughters. We got a glimpse of that during the season 18 premiere of RHOC , and she asked her daughters for forgiveness. Now, she’s detailed just how embarrassed she was.
“I’m a big lecturer on drink and driving, and for me at my age to set such a bad example was devastating,” Shannon said. “I made a terrible decision. I think about it every day, and I’m so grateful I didn’t hurt anyone.”
According to Shannon, her daughters were shocked when they heard the news, but they found forgiveness. Shannon entered counseling after the drunk driving incident, and was reportedly working on the emotional issues that led her to drink heavily in the first place.
“I feel a lot of guilt and shame, and my kids forgive me,” Shannon admitted. “They don’t like it when I tell them how upset I am about what happened.”
As the anniversary of Shannon’s drunk driving approaches, she says she feels like she’s “back on track.” She still drinks, but she’s found other coping mechanisms. She draws strength from her daughters and, of course, the man who lives upstairs.
“I am grateful to have loving children, but I am still working on myself, and I believe God has a plan,” Shannon shared.
