Season 22 of Top Chef is going global, and will be filmed in Canada

It’s time to pack your knives and go to Canada! Top chefs Season 22 will leave the United States and head north. After filming Season 21 in Wisconsin, the producers must have decided why not go a little further next time. After all, going to another country will bring variety to the challenges with different types of ingredients, and new guest judges will offer a new perspective. Fans are sure to be excited about this news, but the hosts seem to be the most excited of all.

Jill dropped the shocking news to Tom and Christine

Season 21 just ended with mixed reviews. Originally, fans were worried about how Kristin Kish would fare as the new host. She had big shoes to fill once Padma Lakshmi left. However, Kristin knocked it out of the park with her food knowledge and positive vibe. She also easily relates to chefs as she won Season 10 of Top Chef.

As amazing as Christine was, the chefs didn’t give their best. All three finalists served incorrectly cooked fish in the final challenge. Wow. Perhaps going international will bring in a new crop of talented chefs to showcase their skills. Gail Simmons might know some of them because she’s from Canada.

So it made sense that Gail would be the one to break the news on Instagram to co-hosts Kristen and Tom Colicchio. Gail called them and asked, “Hey guys. Did you hear the news? I mean it’s pretty big.” “I had no idea,” Tom quipped, “I was out looking for the perfect hat!” Kristen added that she is still in a “post-finale fog.”

Gayle then asked Tom and Christine to guess where she was. Tom shouted, “Wait, is this Canada?” Christine asked, “Are you there to visit family?” “No, I’m here to check out the location for the new season. That’s right, Season 22: Destination, Canada,” Gayle told them.

Kristen responded: “Shut the front door, this is epic!” Tom added: “Bring the poutine and maple syrup!” Yes please! I can’t wait to see all the variations of poutine the chefs will make, and the new ways to use maple syrup in the dish.

“I’m so excited to show you guys,” Gale joked, “and by the way, my parents are literally packing up the guest rooms as we speak, so be careful.” However, this did not distract Christine and Tom. They shouted, “Canada, here we come!”

Top Chef airs on Peacock.
