Riley Strain’s cause of death has been revealed

Nearly three months after the University of Missouri student’s body was found, Riley’s official cause of death has been attributed to drowning and ethanol poisoning, with the method listed as accidental, according to an autopsy report obtained by TMZ on June 18.

In late March, Metro Nashville Police Dept Announce Riley’s body was recovered from the Cumberland River in West Nashville, two weeks after he disappeared. At the time, they noted that “no trauma associated with foul play had been observed.”

Shortly after, an MNPD public information officer confirmed to E! News that an autopsy has been performed and that “the cause of death still appears to be accidental” – adding that a toxicology report is still pending.

However, one of Riley’s family friends, Chris DingmanTell Newsnation On March 27, the family requested the assistance of a private company to conduct a second autopsy.

Two days later, Riley’s funeral was held.

“Riley Strain’s presence will be greatly missed, but his joyful approach to life and the happiness he brought to those around him will be remembered forever,” the 22-year-old’s obituary read.
