“His gallbladder is going to be removed very soon,” said the anesthesia nurse. “The surgeons were very concerned about tumors in his liver, so we had an MRI done last week, and the MRI showed no visible tumors or anything else. So that was amazing news.”

Encouraging fans to “trust their instincts” [and] “Listen to their bodies”

Last month, Anne Marie, the wife of former NFL star Marcellus Wiley, shared the news about her tumor. In the months leading up to her diagnosis, she experienced “tremendous stress and anxiety,” which led to weight loss and severe upper abdominal pain. Instead of seeing her doctor, a trained nurse ignored her symptoms until the pain became “unbearable.”

“I believe in the power of openness and transparency, especially when it comes to our health,” she wrote from her doctor’s office. “If sharing this can inspire at least one person to trust their instincts, listen to their body, and get checked out, then it’s worth it.”

“Always listen to your body,” Anne-Marie continued. “Don’t wait if you feel something strange or something doesn’t feel right. Your health is everything.”
