Restraining order filed against Golden Bachelorette’s suitor

Less than a week after the premiere of The Golden BacheloretteWe’ve already begun to see the skeletons in one contestant’s closet. An ex-girlfriend has filed a restraining order to keep Gil Ramirez, one of the 24 suitors competing for Joan Vasos’ heart, from coming near him.

You might be thinking, “Why don’t they do background checks on these people?” Well, they do. They just don’t notice; and they probably have a good reason for that…

During the premiere of The Golden Bachelorette, we met Gil, 60, a teacher and father of two. We watched him get emotional after receiving a video from his son, and Joan gave him a rose.

However, a report from People magazine revealed that one of Jill’s ex-girlfriends filed a domestic violence lawsuit against him before he filmed The Golden Bachelorette. She alleged that he “emotionally harassed” her for at least two weeks. Things did not escalate to physical violence, but she still worries about her safety.

“Despite my asking him not to contact me, and to come to my home – he made repeated unwanted contact with me, family members and friends,” his ex-girlfriend claimed.

She continued: “25 attempts a day via phone, text and video. Even though I live an hour away from here, I would visit the places I frequent to confront me daily.”

His ex filed paperwork for a temporary restraining order just days before Gil left to film The Golden Bachelorette. The hearing was originally scheduled for July 2, but they had to push it back to July 24 once he returned from the show. That’s why none of this drama was caught in the show’s background check; it was completed before the application was filed.

When it finally came time for the court, the restraining order was denied. However, ABC isn’t thrilled about the case coming to light. They’re reportedly tweaking the show to limit Gil’s screen time. So don’t expect to see much of Gil moving forward; he’s definitely not going to be the next Golden Bachelor.

The Golden Bachelorette airs every Wednesday at 8/7c on ABC.

Tell us – what do you think about Jill’s truth being revealed? Do you think it’s fair for ABC to cut back on his screen time for this reason?
