Nikki Garcia ‘furious’ over Artem Chigvintsev’s call for support

The Dancing with the Stars alumna has requested spousal support in her divorce papers. The move has reportedly left Nikki feeling extremely angry.
Artem Chigvintsev’s bold request for spousal support
Nikki officially filed for divorce on September 11, just days after Artem was arrested on domestic violence charges. In her filing, she asked for legal and physical custody of their son, Mateo. Two days later, when Artem filed his paperwork, things got dicey.
The DWTS alum is asking for joint custody of their child, which is understandable. However, he is also asking for spousal support and for Nikki to pay his legal fees. A source close to Nikki told Life and Style that this completely caught her off guard. She thinks it’s very bold and was hoping the whole thing would be quick and painless.
“Nikki is extremely upset about Artem’s request for spousal support. She is still in shock and is asking herself, ‘Who did I marry?’,” an insider claimed. “She is stunned by Artem’s audacity and lack of shame.”
Naturally, the source said, the former professional wrestler is planning to “strike back.” She doesn’t want to give up on the marriage and pay Artem, and she hopes the judge will side with her.
“You hope the judge, if it comes to that, will see the truth about this disgusting exploitation of the money,” the source added.
It’s important to remember that all of this is happening during DWTS’s 33rd season. Artem will not be part of this season, a decision ABC apparently made before all this marital drama with Nikki. In any case, insiders are convinced that Artem would have asked for spousal support even if he still had his job.
“Even if he hadn’t been asked back on Dancing With the Stars, she thinks he would have asked her for spousal support,” the source claimed. “After what he did to Nikki, it was a slap in the face and a total loser on his part.”
