Miss plus-size Alabama, Sarah Milliken, is clapping back in the face of body models

The makeup artist, who won the Miss Alabama National USA title in May, recently addressed the body-shaming comments she received after celebrating her crowning achievement during a special on CBS affiliate WKRG in Alabama.

“It is important to address the part of the story that did not air,” Sarah said in an Instagram post on June 6. “When they first posted a behind-the-scenes photo of the day, it received over 2,000 comments and was viewed over a million times.”

The 23-year-old – who describes herself as “plus size” – was pointing to her curve-hugging, long-sleeved dress which she paired with her sash and tiara.

“The things some people said were really disgusting,” she continued. “I chose not to delve into it. However, there is something important [lesson] “I have to have it and I feel that as the defending champion it would be extremely irresponsible for me not to address ‘Part Two’ of this story.”
