Leah McSweeney was ‘shaken’ after Lyme disease diagnosis

The hits keep coming for her Leah McSweeney. The former Real Housewives of New York star was involved in lawsuits with Bravo and promptly lost in the court of public opinion. She has become terrified of New York City and ready to flee at any moment. Now, she’s just learned she has Lyme disease, and said the diagnosis has left her feeling “shaken.” 2024 is not her year.

Leah talks about her recent diagnosis

As Page Six reported, Leah shared the health update on her Instagram Stories. She posted a photo of the test results and asked for “success stories of recovery from Lyme disease.” Someone connect her with Yolanda Hadid.

According to Leah, this is a new infection and not a chronic one. Fortunately, there’s no way she can blame Andy Cohen or Bravo. Lyme disease comes from Borrelia bacteria, which is transmitted to humans by ticks.

The most common symptoms are flu-like, but sometimes patients experience facial paralysis and an irregular heartbeat. There is also a characteristic rash that accompanies the infection. If left untreated, the infection can spread throughout the nervous system and into the joints.

Leah said on Instagram that she felt “crazy” for the last two months before receiving the diagnosis. In another post on her Stories, she showed more than a dozen vials of blood from the latest round of testing. “Everything is great,” she wrote, along with a laughing emoji.

The CDC says most cases of Lyme disease resolve with several rounds of antibiotics. However, a very small percentage of patients experience long-term symptoms, ranging from fatigue to difficulty thinking. This is what they call “chronic Lyme disease.”

For anyone who will be out and about this summer, let this serve as a reminder. Take steps to prevent tick bites.
