On September 23, TMZ published an article titled “‘DWTS’ Maksim Chmerkovskiy Calls Anna Delvey a ‘Slut Dancer!’” The quote was taken from Maksim’s recent appearance on a TMZ podcast. It didn’t take long for the article to pop up on Kelly’s radar. She took to her Instagram Story to criticize Maksim’s point of view.

“I thought that meant sexy!” she wrote, disbelieving Maxim’s real choice of words. Kelly also wrote, “Do you mean sassy or are you so pathetic that you can’t go on a show having to attack someone? No one cares what you think.” Oh my god. Anna later retweeted Kelly’s words, adding, “Who is this guy called Maxim? He must be poor.”

Maxim’s comments seemed oddly bitter. And some of his comments were not far off. It’s odd that DWTS would make fun of a convict at the expense of other stars who would certainly be up for it. However, Maxim’s attack on Anna seemed oddly personal, especially when he called her a bad dancer. Does he have no sympathy for his exes? Or even his past self?

Dancing with the Stars continues to air Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+.
