KC Chiefs’ BJ Thompson suffers cardiac arrest during a team meeting
There was a medical emergency in the Kingdom of Chiefs.
Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman PJ Thompson He suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest on June 6, prompting the NFL team to cancel its scheduled activities for the day, according to multiple outlets.
Thompson suffered a seizure during a special team meeting, an insider told NFL Network Tom Pelissero, citing sources. He was reportedly treated by Chiefs medical staff while an ambulance was called to the scene.
The 27-year-old is now in stable condition, according to Pelissero.
The Chiefs were scheduled to complete their final round of voluntary practice on the day of Thompson’s medical emergency, but practice has since been postponed until June 7, a team spokesman told The Associated Press.
Thompson joined the Chiefs in 2023 as a fifth-round pick. Prior to his NFL career, the linebacker played college football for Baylor University and Stephen F. Austin State University.
