Kate Middleton will miss Trooping the Color event amid cancer treatment

The Princess of Wales will be absent from the Colonel’s parade ahead of the Trooping the Color gala on June 8 as she continues treatment for cancer.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson told NBC News on May 30: “This year, General James Bucknall KCB, Chief of Military Operations, will assume the role of Inspection Officer on behalf of Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales at Colonies Review as she continues her recovery.”

The annual military ceremonies of the Colonel’s Parade and Trooping the Colour, which will be held on June 8 and 15 respectively, will see 1,400 soldiers and hundreds of musicians celebrate the King’s birthday. Each event is nearly identical, with only the Colonel’s review including some additional installation officers.

This year’s events would have seen Kate involving the children Prince George,10, Princess Charlotte9, and Prince Louis6 with Prince William– She takes a bigger role in the party. After all, the 42-year-old has been appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2023, and the group will be showing its colors this year.
