Just when we thought we knew what to expect from The Anonymous, here comes DANI.

Just when we thought we knew what to expect from The unknownHere comes Dani to turn everything upside down. Our favorite AI host can’t stop messing things up. In episode seven of The Anonymous, “Plot Twist,” players are left in a state of confusion, as the title suggests.

After a prominent player was eliminated from the competition, DANI informed the surviving players that there would be no regular challenges this week. Instead, they were sent straight back into Anonymous Mode for more covert and brutal gameplay, and we’re here to break down all the shady strategies that were implemented.

Big Brother Drop

Last week, Danny left us in suspense, teasing that either Dillian or Xavier would be eliminated. Either way, we would have been heartbroken. But it looks like the axe was about to fall on Dillian, as Xavier chose to run in the Unknown Mode. This strong play should have given him a clear path to victory by the power of the Unknown. But somehow, it didn’t work out that way.

With everyone on the edge of their seats, Danny announces that Xavier, the winner of Big Brother 23, has been kicked out of the game. Shocker!

“It took a long time,” Xavier said without missing a beat.

In a flashback, we learn that Lily was the one who won the power of The Anonymous this week. She’s had her first taste of power, and she’s come a long way since she was constantly crying about being eliminated. In her hideout, she explains that the reason she shot Xavier was to get him away from Jack. This duo is very dangerous.

Back on the disc, Xavier shared some parting words with the other players. When he announced that he was playing Scissors, no one seemed shocked. This would explain why he didn’t have The Anonymous under that code. Everyone knew that. However, when he said that he was playing Fish earlier in the game, the revelation sparked a huge reaction from everyone.

On the way out, Xavier wished everyone good luck. He also said that if he hadn’t gone home this week, he was confident he would have won the whole match. That’s what everyone says.

Obviously, Xavier’s elimination sent shockwaves through the stadium. It was a win for everyone to see such a strong player eliminated. But now the question is: who will be next?

For most players, they have decided to return to the previous goals of Victoria and Christopher. They realize that they have to split this offer one way or another.

Meanwhile, some of the other players have settled on a new target – Jack. In an interesting side conversation, Marcel and Christopher agree that Jack might be the strongest person in this game. And everyone watching at home knows they are 100% right.

In her confession, Nina said that she was fully aware of Jack’s power in the game, but her goal was different. She wanted to play on both sides of the fence. On the one hand, she wanted to keep Jack close because he was so strong, but she also wanted to go with the “herd” to ensure she had numbers on her side.

All of these strategies are good in theory, but with all the tricks in DANI’s virtual pocket, it’s almost impossible to make a big progress.

Continuous unknown status

The first surprise of the week came when Dani revealed that there would be no challenges this week. There would be no weighted puzzles and no colored balls. Instead, the contestants were sent back to the Unknowns. Let the chaos begin!

Once again, the anonymous chat started right away thanks to Dillian playing Popsicle. He starts the party every time. He casually chimed in, “Jack, you’re headed for elimination this week.”

With this matter in the universe, Jack could not sit idly by. He replied and suggested that Christopher should get up and get rid of this matter. Basma agreed.

Although Jack and the lovers were the main targets of the chat, no one came out of this round unscathed. Once the votes were tallied, there were more players eliminated than left. Here’s a look at how everyone voted:

  • The robot voted for Nina, again for no apparent reason.
  • The eagle voted for Marcel.
  • Cactus voted for Basma in another betrayal from within the girls’ alliance.
  • Flamingo voted for Christopher.
  • Popsicle voted for Jack, as promised.
  • Fire voted for Lily.
  • Lipstick sound for Lily.
  • The snake voted for Delian, as he always did.
  • Lightning voted for Dillian.

That means seven of the nine players are at risk of elimination. It could be any of them, right? Wrong. Danny had another surprise for them in the form of a face-off challenge. Yes, another challenge.

When DANI announced that the group would be having another showdown, there was definitely a rush to hit the fast-forward button. While this show is a lot of fun thanks to the fast-paced gameplay, this gimmick of watching players sit in a circle and open chests isn’t great. It slows everything down. Is it possible to do that three times now? That’s a choice.

Fortunately, Dani upped the ante this time. With so many players facing elimination, she revealed three Safe Boxes, leaving four players with “Vulnerable” boxes. Furthermore, the players had not revealed the contents of the box. Dani decided to save that information for later. She’s a sneaky asshole like herself.

After players got their boxes in the showdown, Danny sent players back into Anonymous mode to try to match each other with their handles. This meant that anyone who got The Anonymous’s power would have no idea which player won the safety. They could shoot someone and then it would be nullified.

What’s in your box?

The players took the test, one person was chosen to be The Anonymous, and DANI reassembled the players at the disk to find out their fates. All the while, the players nominated for elimination were holding their own little showdown boxes. Finally, DANI revealed who was holding what in their boxes.

Starting with the players in danger. In a flashback, we see that Nina, Dillian, and Basma were all in danger boxes after the confrontation. Jack and Lily won safety. Lucky duck.

This left the fates of Marcel and Christopher up in the air. One was safe while the other remained in danger. Normally, this is where the end credits would begin, but in a change of formula, Dani dropped the news that Marcel had been chosen by The Anonymous to return home. Still, don’t think we’ll be leaving this episode without a cliffhanger.

As the credits rolled, Danny asked Marcel to open the showdown box. If there was security inside the box, he would be immune from elimination, and this “surprise” of the episode was for naught. We’ll see what happens next week.

New episodes of The Anonymous air on USA Network Mondays at 11/10c. You can watch them live on Peacock.
