Halsey shares a diagnosis of lupus and the rare lymphoproliferative disorder

Halsey She opens up about her health journey.

One day after the singer (real name Ashley Frangipane) dropped her new song “The End,” the first single from her upcoming album of the same name, and hinted at her recent health struggles, shared more insight about her battle and thanked fans for their support.

“I realize everyone is catching on to the news I’ve been holding on to for too long, and I wasn’t sure how much I wanted to share,” Halsey wrote in a June 5 Instagram post. “You’ve all been so kind, so I want to share more. In 2022, I was first diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and then a rare lymphoproliferative disorder. Both are currently being managed or in remission.”

Lupus SLE is an autoimmune disease that often presents as seizures and can affect all parts of the body, causing the immune system to attack healthy tissue, according to the National Institutes of Health. The organization also states that T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder is associated with the production of bone marrow cells, which is rare, but occurs in immunocompromised individuals.
