Family and friends honor memory of 26-year-old El Pasoan after murder suspect’s arrest Texas (CBS4) — Following the arrest of her alleged killer, family and friends gathered to remember the 26-year-old victim of a brutal murder in far east El Paso.
The El Paso Police Department arrested 24-year-old Gabriel Arnold as they believe he shot and killed Kimberly Segovia on March 27 outside the Tres Palmas apartment complex.

On Wednesday, KFOX14 spoke with Segovia’s family and friends who said they feel relief after hearing about the arrest.
“We’re kind of relieved now but it’s not going to feel the same,” said Estevan Segovia, one of the victim’s cousins.
Estevan said Kimberly’s father hasn’t been the same since the murder.
“Before the incident, my uncle was such an energetic happy man– just good vibes around him. After that happened he completely changed and is not the same person…” said Estevan.
Friends said Arnold, the suspect, had repeatedly hurt her in the past.
“Prior to this, I had pictures of like, scars on her back from when he grabbed her and threw her,” said friend Isabella Moreno.
Moreno considers Kimberly like an older sister.
Moreno said Kimberly leaves behind two little girls who adore her and whose lives have now been changed forever.
“She was just a sweet soul I just don’t understand like, why would you do that to somebody, especially because at the end of the day that’s supposed to be somebody that loved her,” said Estevan.
Another friend, Damian Ochoa, said he was with Kimberly just a day before she was killed.
Ochoa shared how Kimberly told her she was trying to turn her life around.
“She was telling me she was ready to make so many good changes in her life, she was trying to get her daughter with her to Albuquerque and just doing everything that she could,” said Ochoa.
Ochoa said he will carry her memories with him forever.
“She gave me a lot of good advice that I’m going to hold onto and I’m going to keep. I’m going to honor her as much as I can,” said Ochoa.
Arnold is being charged with murder and held under a $1 million bond.
