Everyone in his high school watched it Hills In the early 2000s. The semi-scripted drama sounded eerily similar to what was happening in our halls amid the closet chatter. Along with my neon green mystery frame that held my BFF faces, it was also an MTV cast poster. The series was very popular among teens as cameras followed the youth of Orange County. Their biggest problem seemed to be the boys and catching a good wave. Between Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Whitney Port, Kristin Cavallari, and Audrina Patridge, it seemed like an exclusive community was what every American teenager wanted for themselves.
So, 18 years later, it’s time to take a look at the semi-glamorous lifestyle that helped shape today’s millennials. I remember some of the actors’ work. But more often than not, their daily goal was to enjoy a beautiful sunset. So, take a walk with me down memory lane, and don’t forget those butterfly clips.
Boyfriend breakups heard all over OC
Perhaps one of the most iconic moments on The Hills was Lauren’s statement to Heidi after they failed to reignite their long friendship. The fashion designer drew a line in the sand, explaining that she would not accept any more bad friends. Heidi got the message loud and clear after Lauren said, “All that’s left is for her to forgive you and forget you. So I want to forgive you and I want to forget you.”
No amount of yellow roses can help Heidi get what she wants. Lauren was tired of the rumors spread by Spencer Pratt but Heidi was fighting for her future husband. I remember watching this scene when I was 16, thinking about how popular this line was. Fast forward to 37, and I’m forced to end my friendship with the friend I watched this scene with. Talk about a full circle moment. And Lauren never looked back.
Heidi explained my surgery
Heidi’s face has changed a lot over the years. No one cared more about her than her mother, and rightfully so. Heidi explains to her horrified mother that she “had her nose reconstructed. I had my fat injected into her cheeks, and my ears were pinned back. I had injections in my lips. I shaved my chin down. I had my breasts reconstructed. And my back was shaped. And then I had a little Inner and outer fat As I wrote this, I forgot what I had done and found myself saying “Jesus” a lot.
Lauren’s only tear
In Season 4, Lauren shed a black tear while talking to Audriana. The two used to be thick as thieves, but after constantly fighting back and forth via text messages, it was all over. Lauren felt Odiana becoming more and more dismissive, and the final conversation came to a head. A single mascara-tinged tear ran down LC’s eyelashes as she cried, “All I want is for you to be my girlfriend again.” The moment turned into one of the most popular GIFs, with Lauren later admitting that the producer slowed down the tearing process to make it more dramatic.
Christine appears
Lauren’s replacement was an expert at creating fights wherever she went. Kristen had a very unique sense of drama and no one will ever forget “Steven!!” Perhaps one of her best moments was when she lost control while at Heidi’s beach party. Almost immediately after walking in and hugging Justin Bobby, she proceeded to tell everyone in attendance, “I’m sorry I walked in here and I was saying hi to my friends, and you guys came at me like piranhas.” Then she suddenly turned to Audriana and shouted, “If it’s going to be like this, it’s ridiculous, you bitch. You don’t want to get on my bad side.” It was also nice of her to call Stephanie Pratt a “sidekick.”
Kiss
Audriana knew she should never have wasted her time with Justin Bobby. Week after week, fans have been pulling their hair out watching this man disrespect Odriana. So when he finally crossed a major line by kissing another girl in front of her, we knew it was going downhill. Everyone knew he was a cheater, but unfortunately, Udayana had to see it with her own eyes to accept that he was not good for her. The moment took place in a classic way in the parking lot, where the duo then proceeded to cry behind a dumpster. This wasn’t the best look for Audriana who still went home with Justin Bobby at the end of the night. OK.
