DWTS’ Artem Chigvintsev Shares His Post-Season Priorities "difficult" arrest

After prosecutors filed a motion not to charge him following his August 29 arrest on domestic violence charges, Dancing with the stars One graduate told E! News how he’s getting through this “very difficult time,” explaining that his top priority remains his 4-year-old son. Matteowhich he shares with his estranged wife Nicky Garcia.

“My focus has always been and will always be on our son Mateo,” Artem said in a statement on September 25. “He is my world, and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life. At all times, my main concern has been him.”

“I am committed to continuing to provide the love, support and care he needs as we move forward,” he added. “I am optimistic that securing equal custody arrangements will help us move forward.”

Nikki, 40, filed to end her two-year marriage to Artem, 42, on September 11, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. In the filing, the former WWE star — formerly known as Nikki Bella— He also requested sole legal and physical custody of Mateo, with visitation rights for Artem. But in a filing he filed two days later, he requested joint legal and physical custody, plus spousal support.
