Dance Moms Star Gloria Hampton Leads ‘New Era’ Remake

The old is out and the new is in! Hulu just announced a brand new series called Dance Moms: A New Eraand Abby Lee Miller is nowhere to be found. Instead, a new, angry dance instructor has entered the studio: Gloria Hampton. A Dance Moms reboot is officially on the way…

First Look at the New Dance Moms: A New Era

You may recognize Gloria from her brief appearances throughout the original run of Dance Moms. In season three, Gloria appeared when Abby tried to recruit her daughter into the Abby Lee Dance Company. When that failed, Gloria and her daughter ended up working for a rival team.

Now, Gloria is taking on the role that Abby once held, which we know drives Abby crazy. After leaving the Lifetime show, she’s been desperately trying to revive the Dance Moms concept, with limited success. These days, she only makes headlines when she makes weird comments about high school football players.

Gloria wasn’t the first person to take on a coaching role on Dance Moms. In 2017, Cheryl Burke briefly took over the show, which at this point seems like a dream. Abby quickly returned in 2018 before the show eventually fizzled out.

In the years since Dance Moms’ original run, the girls have been vocal about the negative impact the show had on them. Recently, a few of the cast members came together for a reunion, where they all reflected on their unique childhood experiences.

In the trailer for the new series, you can see Gloria trying her best to use the same intimidation tactics that Abby perfected. We just hope she doesn’t go too hard on these kids. We don’t want to hear about another group of young girls being traumatized for the sake of reality TV.

Dance Moms: A New Era will premiere on Hulu on August 7.

Tell us – what do you think of the DANCE MOMS: A NEW ERA teaser? Do you think Gloria can be compared to Abi?
