Whether it was staying out of the drama or making sure his friend, Gary King, got home from the bar unharmed. However, when Bravo announced the new season, fans were quick to notice that Colin was no longer a main cast member.
Colin McRae was the funny man on the yacht.
Fans already knew that Colin wasn’t thinking about returning to Below Deck Sailing Yacht. He hinted during the Season 4 reunion that he was upset with how his relationship with Daisy Kelleher developed and the love triangle he found himself in. But before Colin was involved in heartbreak, he was the funny bone in Parsifal III. Over the course of multiple seasons, he and Gary would crack each other’s bones. The combination of Gary and Colin worked so well together, like peanut butter and jelly.
I would go as far as to say that they were one of the most perfect on-screen duos on Bravo. Colleen was excellent at his job and had a great sense of humor. Colleen’s ability to lighten anyone’s mood was helpful, especially when you live in such tight quarters. What worries me as a fan of Season 5 is that without Colleen, Gary would still be entertaining. I think they need each other to make the magic happen. Unfortunately, I think it would be very difficult to find someone with Colleen’s comedic timing.

To be an engineer on a yacht, Parsifal 3, you have to know what you’re doing. Colin’s passion is evident throughout multiple episodes. Colin proved to be a true star of the sea during season 4, when he had to single-handedly repair the ship’s engine. The entire crew’s sailing season was nearly canceled after Colin noticed that the engine was flooded with salt water. At the time, the technicians told the captain that it would take 15 days to install the new parts. However, Colin came to the rescue even though he didn’t have a rebuild kit by his side.
In a bold move, Colin revealed his previous experience in “saving engines.” No one had any hope for the ship, but Colin continued to work on it for days. It probably also helped that Colin helped rebuild a ship from a 2018 hurricane. Fans watched as Colin removed the injectors and put in diesel, only to have it completely sucked out later. Somehow, miracle of miracles, it worked, leaving Colin as our own hero. Although it was a daunting task, he saved the charter season and the tip money.
Colin McRae has always seemed so real.
Say what you will about the reality star, but Colin was a decent guy in my eyes. When he first joined Below Deck Sailing Yacht, he was in a serious relationship. He never broke his promise to be a good friend during a one-night stand with the crew. Colin often showed his personality when he called home to check on him. The moment I remember most was when his beloved dog passed away. He was heartbroken, and fans could tell he truly loved his pet.
Even when he tried to date Daisy during season four, Colin was always a gentleman. Cameras would often catch Colin trying to comfort Daisy after a hard day at work and saying sweet things to her. It’s really frustrating that Colin isn’t there in season five. I sit here wondering who the moral compass of the show will be. I hope the rest of the cast can make up for the shortfall, but I hope Colin knows he’ll be missed.
