Ari Shapiro teases the ‘most diverse’ cast of Netflix’s The Mole

Now, we’re seeing more of him in Netflix’s second season the moleEarlier this year, Netflix confirmed that it would be hosting a seventh season of the reality competition show, and Arie just teased how the cast brought something completely new to the series.
Ari knows a thing or two about casting The Mole. Nearly 20 years ago, he actually auditioned to be a contestant. This didn’t go anywhere, but life has a funny way of coming full circle. He is now following in the footsteps of Anderson Cooper, Ahmed Rashad, and Alex Wagner by serving as host.
The Mole Season 7’s Commendable Cast
Arie spoke with Us Weekly about the new season, and it’s clear he’s super excited to finally be a part of the show. During the conversation, he praised Netflix for assembling a “diverse” cast, with each person bringing something unique to the table.
“I don’t say diverse in the simple sense of the word, I mean it in every sense of the word,” Ari explained.
“So everyone is there for a reason. Whether it’s because they’re good at solving puzzles or physical challenges,” he continued. “But they’re all very different from each other in age, body type, background, profession, politics, and ethnicity. It’s been really exciting to see how the 12 of them work together.”
One thing all the contestants had in common was their enthusiasm for the game. As everyone walked out, Ari said they all expressed their disappointment at missing out on more of the experience. They filmed the season in Malaysia, so Ari pointed out the locations of “tropical islands, caves, and skyscrapers.” No one wants to miss any of that.
“The eliminated contestants were saying to me as I was leading them to the car, ‘I feel really upset because I won’t get a chance to see what comes next,’” Ari recalls. “Because each episode of the series is in a different location because the missions were so extraordinary “Everyone really wanted to see what came next.”
Ari explained that he was grateful to be on the host side because now he didn’t have to worry about being eliminated. He had a front row seat for all ten episodes. Sounds like a good party for someone special!
