Andy Cohen Explains His Frequent Cough on WWHL

What’s up with Andy Cohen cough on Watch what’s happening liveWell, he can’t quite control it, as viewers may realize. But he’s recently offered more information about his apparent illness.

Bravo viewers know Andy as the host of WWHL, as well as a producer on several Bravo shows. His fans may know him as a loving father. His critics may point to the numerous lawsuits he faces.

Indeed, Andy is not without his controversy and his videos that raise eyebrows. Unfortunately, some of that comes naturally with the spotlight. Love him or hate him, one thing is for sure – people can’t help but notice Andy. Hence the reference to his cough.

Andy Cohen Calls His Cough a ‘Genetic Disease’

In a recent Instagram Live, a fan pointed out Andy’s cough and asked if he was okay. He said, “Everything is fine and I appreciate you asking. I have some kind of annoying genetic bug. Sometimes I sneeze or cough during the show and it feels really weird when I watch it on TV. Do the other hosts do that or am I just a complete mess? Don’t answer.”

This wouldn’t be the first time fans have pointed out Andy’s discomfort. On February 21, 2024, a fan tweeted that he heard Andy “screaming all over the place.” Andy responded, “My kids made me cough!” Andy’s diehard fans may remember that he has asthma. Not only that, but he also contracted COVID-19 in 2020, which can cause irreversible lung problems.

In 2020, Bravo reported that Andy’s symptoms included “fever, tightness in my chest, cough, really bad pain… some chills, loss of smell and appetite.” Andy described it all as “constant.” He explained, “I have asthma, but the tightness in my chest was different than the shortness of breath I get when I have asthma.”
