After last season’s drama Reality Von Tease, there were more eyes on Real

After last season’s Reality Von Tease drama, there were more eyes on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City The Season 5 premiere was more intense than ever. And it was clear that the producers knew it if the very dramatic sequence before the end credits of RHOSLC was any indication.

In the Season 5 premiere, it’s been nine months since Heather Gay’s big moment in Bermuda, and two months since the reunion. Lisa Barlow throws a “Besos”-themed Valentine’s Day party for all of her friends, including the three new RHOSLC cast members. It’s not quite “Monica Garcia is Reality Von Tease” level, as the night ends in screaming matches instead of sisterhood and solidarity.

Ahead of season five, viewers were worried it would be a disappointment. Those fears were fueled when Monica claimed that the producers wanted her back. But Lisa and Meredith Marks insisted that this was the best season yet. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s the case. The premiere certainly gave us a lot to talk about. Now, let’s open our scripts like Angie Katsanevas and take a look at the episode’s biggest moments.

Who’s the real villain on RHOSLC, Whitney or Lisa?

With Monica off the show, viewers have been wondering who will take over as the villain on RHOSLC. In early February, Whitney Rose threw Lisa under the bus on (what else) Nick Viall’s podcast. The show featured a clip of Whitney declaring, “Lisa was always the villain!” This clearly didn’t sit well with Lisa, who decided to Whitney He was actually the villain.

Lisa was mad at Whitney for showing up (and who’s to say Whitney wouldn’t miss filming the first group event of the season). Whitney didn’t greet Heather – as we know, not all is well between sisters. The bad weather was over, and now it was bad. Whitney even made a sarcastic comment to Angie about how Lisa and Heather are now best friends.

Lisa has repeatedly called Whitney a liar. As we saw in the season preview, Justine Rose eventually steps in to tell her to stop. She also accuses Whitney of using her “climbing” trip to feel morally superior. Meredith and Heather also bring up Whitney’s past issues. By the end of the party, Whitney is starting to feel like she’s being hounded by a gang. At least she has an ally in her friend Millie Workman. And Angie K, who Lisa and Heather are very angry about. We get a hint as to what led to the feud between Angie and Lisa.

Whitney was very bold at the party. She called Lisa “selfish” and left the party after she pointed the finger at her. But Lisa should remember that many viewers don’t like it when a cast member is attacked. So it’s not yet certain that Whitney is the villain. In fact, Lisa just named another woman as the final villain of Season 5.

Meredith talked about the bathroom. bumps Bombshells at RHOSLC Premiere

We all know that baths are Meredith’s favorite thing. In case anyone forgot, Meredith was shown in the opening shots taking a bubble bath in her new home. After coming into Meredith’s bathtub last year, Whitney launched a bath bomb as one of her business ventures. Since baths are Meredith’s problem, she was upset. While Meredith accused Whitney of copying her, RHOSLC’s Wild Rose insisted otherwise, and a new petty feud was born.

But of course, it wasn’t all about the bath bombs. Meredith was still upset about the way they treated her last year. And she wasn’t happy about the way they left things at the reunion.

Angie K. wasn’t taking kindly to it, either, as we saw in her manuscript (kudos to the editors for giving the manuscript its own rhythm). Angie talked about gossip and atrocities, gossiping about the Greek mafia, and Meredith told Monica she could sue Angie. Whitney and Angie are clearly a team this year, and Meredith is not a fan. The opening trailer also showed Meredith yelling at Whitney for unlocking her cell phone.

Mary Cosby is playing well (…somewhat) so far on RHOSLC.

Mary Cosby’s return to full-time acting probably came with some strings attached. For example, she had to at least pretend to want to be friends with the other women. Because in the first show, Mary acted kind of friendly?

At the Season 4 reunion, Mary was asked if she liked any of her co-stars. Naturally, Meredith said so, even though we know from the trailer that these two are at odds. She also said she liked Angie K, which surprised the RHOSLC Greek goddess. It turned out to be the start of a beautiful friendship! They even showed up to Lisa’s party with matching handbags and sunglasses. As Angie recalls, it all started when she told Mary that she wore lipstick on her teeth. Mary then invited her to Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party, and a friendship was born. Mary’s basic explanation was, “Life is strange.”

Mary also complimented Heather for the first time ever. And Heather knew exactly why. Especially since Mary had made fun of her on Watch What Happens Live last year. “I went from being a close-knit woman to being pretty and skinny,” Heather said, wondering if this was the start of another new friendship with Mary. There was a limit, though. Mary wasn’t a fan of Heather’s friend Brittany Bateman. Or her coat, which Mary read as dirt. Or her admission that as a child she used to store bread rolls in her bag.

Bronwyn makes a huge impact on RHOSLC

All eyes were on Bronwyn Newport when she walked into the show – because her giant heart-shaped coat could be seen from miles away! Mary continued to play it cool, complimenting her coat and defending Bronwyn’s look as a fashion statement rather than a costume. Bronwyn also wore a plunging red dress for her first confessional. The new housewife joked: “I’m fully dressed like a Tim Burton character and I’m like, ‘Oh, thank you for asking!'” Bronwyn’s quirky style has garnered plenty of attention ahead of the premiere. She has described her aesthetic as a “funny mess”.

Lisa has described her friend Bronwyn as “so fun, so smart, so funny.” She also describes her as “overrated,” which seems apt. Especially since the trailer shows Bronwyn in a puffer coat, a T-shirt, shorts, and boots, all while carrying a duck-shaped bag. While I wondered what the weather was like that day, the editors showed it was 37 degrees.

Not only does her wardrobe over-the-top look pretty, she also has six dogs, all named after characters from House of Cards (the US version, not the UK original).

Monica wasn’t the only problem on RHOSLC.

The opening minutes of the episode featured Heather admitting that Monica’s expulsion wasn’t the end of the group’s problems. She criticized the group for their obsession with receipts (and she was certainly implying evidence, screenshots, and timelines). Her assurance to Monica that everyone else in the group is a real friend (not to mention the group hugs) clearly doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.

The dramatic finale, which set the stage for the rest of the season, also proved this. And it may have given a hint that Monica might show up (or at least be mentioned) later in the season. Heather was heard berating one of her cast mates for reaching out to their “arch-nemesis.” Whitney then said she needed proof of something. Did she reach out to Monica, who sided with Whitney after the premiere? The Reality Von Tease revelation also seems to have put Real Housewives on high alert. One of the ladies is accused of recording the others. And we already know Heather has her doubts about Bronwyn.

It certainly seems that despite what Whitney said, Monica wasn’t the only one with a “dirty little secret” on this crew. Thankfully, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is keeping quiet about it this season, just as they did last year. We’ll have to wait and see if that means a similarly shocking ending.

RHOSLC can be streamed on Peacock.
