The decision to rest Mohamed Salah from playing the upcoming Egypt-Mauritania match comes due to his preference not to play on an “artificial grass” stadium.
Salah participated in the victory Egypt national team against Mauritania (2-0), yesterday, Friday, in the match that was held at Cairo International Stadium, in the third round of the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Mahmoud Trezeguet and Mohamed Salah scored a double for Egypt against Mauritania in yesterday’s match, raising the Pharaohs’ tally to 9 points at the top of Group C.
The meeting between the two teams will be renewed in Mauritania next Tuesday, as part of the fourth round of the African Nations qualifiers.
