Maaloul’s absence from the second leg of the African final
Maaloul was injured at the beginning of the match between Al-Ahly and Esperance, and Swiss coach Marcel Koller, the team’s coach, was forced to replace him in the seventh minute and bring in his colleague Karim Fouad instead.
Maaloul underwent medical examinations in a hospital in Tunisia to determine the extent of his injury. X-rays revealed that he had an injury in the Achilles tendon area, and he will undergo careful examinations upon returning to Cairo to diagnose the injury permanently.
