Diaz scored the first goal in the match in the 13th minute.

The goal came after a well-organised counter-attack, in which the ball reached Diogo Jota, who quickly ran on, before sending a wonderful through pass to Diaz.

Diaz ended the attack with a powerful shot into the visiting team’s net.

“It was a great move, I always try to help the team in the best way possible,” Diaz told BBC Sport.

He continued: “We always try to score. For us, the numbers are important because we are attackers. We live to score goals, so I am very happy.”

The Liverpool star added: “I am happy for the team. We did a great job, which is important. Now we have to try and rest for what is coming.”

Liverpool will play the next round in the English Premier League against Manchester United next Sunday at Old Trafford.
