Fofana said in statements to the French network Free Foot: “I received a phone call from Mehdi Benatia (the sporting director of Marseille Club), and it was an emotional call.”
He added: “I am a fan of Olympique de Marseille, but at the moment I want to succeed at Chelsea.”
Fofana continued: “Coming to Marseille? We will see what can happen one day. I still have a contract until 2029 with Chelsea, and we will see.”
He added: “Marseille is my city, and the club I love. I am a Marseille fan, and we will see if I will play for the team in the next few years, or if I will stay at Chelsea until the end of my career.”

Fofana is 23 years old, plays as a centre-back, and his contract with Chelsea expires in June 2029.
Fofana moved to Chelsea in August 2022 from Leicester, and since then he has played 23 matches in all competitions, scoring two goals, and he previously played for Saint-Etienne.
Fofana played one international match with the French national team, and participated in several matches with the youth teams.
Fofana certainly hopes to play more for Les Bleus in the coming years, and shining with Chelsea will be his way to achieve that.
