Uruguayan Federico Valverde, Real Madrid star, is also nominated for the award, along with Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
The list of nominations included Norwegian Erling Haaland, City striker, Nico Williams, star of the Spanish national team and Athletic Bilbao, Granit Xhaka, captain of the Swiss national team, Artem Dovbyk, Girona player who recently joined Roma, and the recently retired German Toni Kroos.
Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid, Dani Olmo from Barcelona, Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, Martin Odegaard from Arsenal and Mats Hummels from Dortmund are also nominated for the award.
The list also included Lamine Yamal from Barcelona, Dani Carvajal from Real Madrid, Hakan Calhanoglu from Inter Milan, and Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.
France Football also nominated Kylian Mbappé, Lautaro Martinez, Antonio Rudiger, Alejandro Grimaldo and Ademola Lukman for the Ballon d’Or, a list that included Rodri, Harry Kane, Vitinha, Cole Palmer and Declan Rice.
