Rodriguez leads Colombia to the semi-finals in the Copa America
The scoring in the match, which was hosted by the University of Phoenix Stadium, was started by Colombia star Jhon Cordoba in the 8th minute.
The goal came after a corner kick executed perfectly by James Rodriguez, and Cordoba rose to the ball and headed it into the net.
Rodriguez managed to add the second goal for the Colombian national team in the 15th minute from a penalty kick.
Luis Diaz scored Colombia’s third goal in the 41st minute, after an assist from Rodriguez, who converted it into a goal after a chipped shot over the head of the Panama goalkeeper.
Richard Rios completed Colombia’s four goals in the 70th minute of the match, after a wonderful shot from outside the penalty area.
Miguel Borja completed Colombia’s quintet with a goal in the 90+4 minute from a penalty kick.
Panama players tried to reduce the difference during the minutes of the match, but their attempts were not enough to shake the Colombian net, so the match ended with a deserved victory for Rodriguez’s teammates.
The Colombian team will play in the semi-finals with the winner of the Brazil-Uruguay match, which will start shortly. The match will be held in the early hours of Thursday morning.
