De la Fuente succeeded in standing on the podium as the champion of Euro 2024 with Spain, and presented an exceptional tournament in Germany, to return again and lead his country’s team in the first two rounds of the European Nations League.
Spanish newspaper Sport reported that De la Fuente’s mission will be to find a solution to push the duo Pedri and Dani Olmo into Spain’s starting lineup, knowing that they had previously been relied upon in the same lineup during the training of the Spanish Olympic team in the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.
In the aforementioned Olympics, De la Fuente tended to push Pedri into midfield, with Barcelona’s new star playing as a winger in attack.
In Euro 2024 in Germany, Pedri was a starter at the expense of Olmo in the squad, before Pedri was injured and the coach relied completely on Olmo.
With Pedri recovering and participating with Barcelona in the new season and showing good levels, the coach will work on making a decision on what he will do with the duo in the coming period.
The Catalan daily did not rule out the possibility of Olmo participating with Spain in the coming period in the false nine position.
