Beppe Bergomi: Inter’s defence was slow against Milan

He continued: “Inter is the oldest team in the Italian league, they suffered in midfield, and the speed of Milan’s attackers really caused them problems. Physically, I have not seen Inter good.”

“I think they are struggling to play two games in a row at a high level, mentally and physically,” he continued. “They played well against Manchester City, but the game against Milan required mental effort, and they were exhausted in the second half.”

He stressed: “Since last season, I thought they were not the best team, but they had the best attitude. They wanted to win the Italian league title, at any cost.”

He continued: “Even against Genoa in the first round, they lacked focus. Against Milan, they should have realised that the Rossoneri were in better shape.”

He added: “The Nerazzurri have time, but they need the right attitude, without that, it becomes difficult.”

“Without some strong players in a one-on-one confrontation, Inter have problems when they have to control the match,” he added.

“Inter were very good at defensive marking last season, but did you see against Milan? When the opponent relies on speed, the Nerazzurri defence is old and slow,” he concluded.
