Today, Wednesday, the Athletics Integrity Unit announced the suspension of Kenyan Ronick Kipruto 6.

Kenya’s Ronex Kipruto is set to lose his 10km road race world record and bronze medal at the World Championships after being banned for six years for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit said on Wednesday.

Kipruto (24), who won a bronze medal in the 10,000 meters at the 2019 World Championships, was suspended in May last year for a doping violation. The Kenyan athlete’s ban will continue until May 2029.

Kipruto broke the world record in the 10km road race at Valencia 2020 and won the 10,000m race at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2019, with both results set to be overturned.

The Disciplinary Court decided that there were errors in the race’s biological passport, which showed possible differences in results due to doping.

The Integrity Unit said: “The court rejected Kyproton’s defense, concluding that the change in his biological passport was largely due to blood manipulation, such as the use of recombinant human erythropoietin. unusual values.

The athlete denied the charge of violating anti-doping rules, but the court said it was satisfied that the Kenyan had been involved in a deliberate and sophisticated doping system for a long time. The runner can appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
