The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reports that the appointment will be announced on Friday

Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported on Friday that former coach of Bayern Munich and German national football team Hansi Flick will be announced next Monday as the technical director of the Spanish team Barcelona.

According to the Catalan newspaper, Flick and Barcelona sporting director Deco had a crucial phone call last Wednesday and the details of the contract and duration were agreed upon.

The famous journalist Fabrizio Romano, in his account on the X platform, revealed that an agreement has been reached between Barcelona and the representative of coach Flick, Pini Zahavi.

Romano said the former Germany national team coach’s contract with Barca runs until 2026 and that they will bring German assistants as part of their staff.

Flick replaces coach Xavi Hernandez, who announced last January before reversing his decision last April after extending his contract with the club until 2025 at the end of the current season.

Flick coached Bayern in the spring of 2019, where he was first appointed on a temporary basis, and the Bavarian team won 7 trophies, winning the German league twice, in addition to the German Cup, the German Super Cup, the European Champions League, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

In the year Flick led Bayern to an 8-2 win over Barcelona in the 2020 Champions League quarter-finals, before the German side won the title that same year.

Flick replaced Joachim Löw as coach of the German national team in 2021, but that time was unsuccessful, as the “Machine” team was eliminated in the first round of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and Flick was forced to resign. The final failure after bad results.
