The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that it will hold a play-off for the African Nations Championship.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that it will hold the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations “Morocco 2025” on July 4 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

CAF said in a statement that 48 countries, including the four winners from the preliminaries (Chad, Eswatini, Liberia and South Sudan), will compete in 12 groups of 4 teams each for the finals.

Confirmed African champions Ivory Coast are Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon and Cape Verde, as well as Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros and Congo, as well as Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini and Ethiopia.

Other countries include Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco and also Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, as well as Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Qualifiers will begin in September 2024 to identify the 24 nations that will compete for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
