The coach of the German national football team, Julian Nagelsmann, expressed his opinion.

Julian Nagelsmann, Germany’s national football team coach, called the election “racist” and said people should “wake up” after pollsters asked if they wanted to see more white players representing the national team.

Germany is preparing to host Euro 2024 from June 14 to July 14.

In a poll conducted by German station WDR as part of a documentary, 21% of participants voted yes.

According to British news agency PA Media, Nagelsmann’s comments came after national team player and Bayern Munich player Joshua Kimmich criticized the election.

“This poll is racist,” Nagelsmann, who is hosting the European Championship for his country, told Bild newspaper. “I feel like we need to wake up.”

Kimmich, for his part, confirmed that “this issue does not exist in the group”.

He added, “Football unites people of different skin colors and religions and that’s the thing. If they weren’t here, I’d miss a lot of players. This is absolutely racist. It has no place among us in the team.”

He continued, “When you think that we are going to organize the European Cup on our soil, the goal is to unite the whole country, and it is ridiculous to raise such a question.”

“It’s about achieving great things together,” he said. As a team we are trying to get everyone in Germany behind us.

The player spoke at Herzogen and Rauch, where Germany’s national team is training for Euro 2024.

The first group of this continental competition includes Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland, and in addition to the hosts, the Scottish counterpart will play the opening match at the Munich Stadium.
