Spanish team Real Madrid’s Champions League win sparks outrage

Spain’s Real Madrid won the Champions League, sparking anger and frustration in Israel after beating Germany’s Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium last night.

This discomfort comes against the backdrop of Spain’s recognition of the Palestinian Authority a few days ago, a decision that has been negatively reflected in Israel’s Sports Street and social media platforms.

Before the final, the Israelis hoped that the Royal team would lose because of their country’s support for the Palestinian cause.

As for the Israeli commentator Ben Caspit, in his blog published on the X forum – “Until Saturday night, I had never supported a yellow team (the color yellow in Israel refers to the far right), Dortmund.” Yes, because it’s a good team for us.

“If Real Madrid win, I swear this will be one of the hardest weeks of my life,” commented one of the Israeli bloggers who hoped Real Madrid would lose.

But the witching winds of the round went the wrong way for the Israelis’ fleet, as the Royals beat their German rivals, and Eddie Cohen lamented, returning to comment, “Unfortunately, my wish came true.” Not fulfilled.”

Another follower expressed his anger at Real Madrid’s win, saying: “I was hoping Dortmund would win because of their country’s stance against our country, but unfortunately the team that defeated the criminals won.”

Others have called for the ban on broadcasting any Spanish league match or Spanish team in Israel.

But Real Madrid’s victory was not the only incident that angered Israelis, as their foreign minister, Israel Katz, came under fire for wearing a Real Madrid shirt while training in New York.

Commenting on the incident, one Israeli asked, “How can you be a Real Madrid fan when the Israeli foreign minister undermines the tense relationship between Israel and Spain by recognizing the Palestinian Authority?” he said.

On the other hand, social media fans in the Arab world celebrated Real Madrid’s victory over the German team, while some fans of Real’s arch-rivals, Barcelona, used the win as an avenue for debate and controversy. Mocking the Israelis, one of them said, “I was hoping Real Madrid would lose, but since Spain has recognized Palestine, we hope Real Madrid will add their 15th trophy.”

Another said, “Where has your blessing gone?” And who will stand with you?

Real Madrid has won the Champions League for the 15th time in its history and the sixth time in the last 11 years.

Spain – along with Ireland and Norway – announced its official recognition of the Palestinian Authority last Tuesday, a move that drew praise from Palestinians and criticism from government and Israeli officials.
