Singapore national team goalkeeper Hassan Soni has asked Chinese fans to stop sending money

Singapore national team goalkeeper Hassan Soni has called on the Chinese to stop sending him the money he saved during their 3-1 defeat by Thailand.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper made 11 saves on Tuesday as Thailand won 3-1 but failed to advance to the next round.

In the group stage, Thailand had to win by 3 clean sheets or score 4 goals and win by two goals.

Hassan’s name went viral on Chinese social media overnight, and the QR payment code of the restaurant he runs with his wife went viral online, with Chinese fans using it to send money.

“I’ve been happy for a while,” Hassan said in radio statements. While the money is coming to us. But then I was wondering when will this stop? “I think this is legitimate. We have to stop at some point.”

Hassan warned that fans could also be deceived by the distribution of fake QR codes.

“I appreciate your support in the past few days, which allowed me to fully understand the feelings of Chinese football fans,” Hassan wrote in a post on social media on Thursday.

“Over the past few days, the QR code of my coconut rice restaurant payment has been widely circulated online, while some videos have used fake codes,” he added.

He added: “I request everyone to be smart with their support and stop transferring money to me over the internet.
