European Football Championship “Euro 2024” Opening Ceremony – Short and Simple – Witnesses
The opening ceremony of the European football championship “Euro 2024” – short and simple – paid tribute to German football legend Franz Beckenbauer before the opening match between the host team “Manschaft” and their Scottish counterparts.
Dancers wearing the colors of the 24 competing teams – led by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier – performed the official song “Fire” by singer Leoni in front of a stadium filled with 66,000 spectators.

Finally, Heidi (Beckenbauer’s widow) carried the trophy to the winning team in the final on July 14th into the Munich stadium and kissed it in the sky.
Beckenbauer, who died in January at the age of 78, won Euro 1972 and the 1974 World Cup as a player, and won the 1990 World Cup as a coach.
Tournament director Philipp Lahm, who captained Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning team, told ZDF that the Euro “brings people together”.
“Amidst the challenges and wars in the world, people need more “joy, happiness and optimism,” he said, and we should come together and celebrate. “I’m looking forward to the next few weeks.”
